So another week goes by unfortunately I have had a 1lb gain this week. Although this could have been a lot worse as I have eaten terrible this week and done no exercise. Back on that wagon as of tomorrow and hoping for a 4lb loss this week :)

A wee haul
Picked up some essentials today:
Hair dye - Unfortunately I am not a natural blonde,in fact I am no where near it on the hair colour scale. I am pretty much polar opposite. I used to get my roots done at the hairdressers but I always used to begrudge the cost so I trained Tom on how to do my roots! Superdrugs natural blonde hair colour is my saviour and an added bonus is that its 2 for £4.99! (I am now at the point where I need 2 boxes for the length)
Simple moisturiser - Now I am a devoted Liz Earle fan but again I cant really afford the price tag at the moment so have been looking for a cheap alternative but to be honest I have probably spend the price of the LE on this hunt. This Simple offering is next on the list and I will do a review soon.
Healthy Mix - I might be a bit late on this bandwagon but I have seen only good things about this little gem so fingers crossed it works for me
Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer - Same things goes for this wee beaut, heard fantastic things but never dabbled. I tried a teeny bit of this afternoon and first impressions are really positive.
(I did also purchase baby wipes for Rosie alway-mucky face!)

Weekly round up
+ First off, drop the pounds project update. I weighed in at 10st 3lbs, so exactly the same as last week. Although initially wee bit disappointed, I reminded myself that I thought I was going to have put on this week as I have not been brilliant with food and exercising. This has changed since the end of last week when I signed up for Weight Watchers again and have been doing well every day since. There has only been one day where I went over points and even then I still stuck within my weekly points. I have also started to do the Shred again so hopefully big pounds off this week. I have however had a few comments about my weight loss which is just fabulous!!
+ Thursday I was supposed to have a shoot but had to cancel due to migrane :(
+ Friday was a lovely family day spent in St Andrews (post below)
+ Saturday I had a lovely bridal trial with Vicki and her bridal party. I love meeting clients that I really get on with and can have a laugh with. They all seemed very pleased with results and I cant wait for the wedding in June.
+ Sunday I had a shoot with Scott Robb for one of his clients and it was also the first time working with Robb so I am looking forward to the edited pictures. In case you are unaware I am a freelance Make Up Artist, you can have a look at my work here - www.facebook.com/sophiealexismakeupartist :)

Saint Andrews
Today we went on a wee family trip to St Andrews, which is about a 40 min journey away. I often over look St Andrews when planning trips out and places to visit, goodness knows why as it is such a beautiful little town.
We just spent the afternoon having a wonder round the town and browsing in the little boutiques and gift shops. We stumbled across an amazing noodle bar called Dr. Noodles. We both choose the Chicken Teriyaki noodles which were delicious and pretty cheap to boot. The best news is that they are opening a branch in the town where we live! We had to also get an ice cream from Janetta's which sells the most luxurious ice based delights. I went for Ferrero Roche and Tom choose Coffee and Raspberry Ripple (weird combination or what?). Safe to say that my WW points were used up mostly on the delights today!
We took a short walk down to the sea shore but it was bloody freezing!! I couldn't feel my toes. Supposedly snow is on its way. I do hope this is true as I have actually missed not having it around - give me 3 weeks of snow and I bet I take that right back.
I think we fell in love with St Andrew's a wee bit today, although I doubt if we will ever be in the position to afford to live there. Oh well we can dream!
Anyway I will leave you with some pictures from today.

one step closer...
Hello guys,
Sorry its a bit late but just wanted to give you a quick update on my first week of my new healthy start. My weight in day was Sunday and I am happy to report that I lost 3lbs, which may not have been loads but to be honest I wasn't being overly strict or anything.
The problem is that since Sunday things have gone to pot! When I look back at my food diary it doesn't seem terribly bad but I just feel like I have eaten crap since then and zero exercise!! So to kick start myself back into it I have decided to return to weight watchers. Just so I can keep a tighter check at what I am eating and in the past weight watchers has spurred me to keep going with the exercise.
I have also been having a lot of trouble getting to sleep at night, which is very unlike me as normally I am out like a light! Tonight I feel absolutely exhausted due to the late nights, early starts so I think I am going to have an early night tonight and start fresh from tomorrow.
Also it food shopping day tomorrow :( - my least fav day as I can never think of what to have for dinner! Any suggestions are welcome.
Let me know what spurs you along. I need some serious motivation.
Love Sophie xx

A wonderful journey for you all to follow..
The author, Rachael, is a lovely girl that I had the pleasure of working with on my first test shoot. She and her fiance are now expecting their first child and Rachael is blogging her way through pregnancy. It is a wonderful diary of all the ups and downs she has had so far and I think you will be hooked with the first read as she is a beautiful writer (and a beautiful girl). Reading her blog makes me wish I had done the same with Rosie, or at least kept her journal up to date. Hopefully this will push me in the right direction and give me some inspiration. On that note Rosie cut her 7th tooth today!

New year New Me
Happy New Year to you all. I cannot believe we are in 2012, the last 10 years of my life have seemed to fly by.
I havent blogged for an age so here is a quick life update:
My freelance business seems to be growing from strength to strength which I am so excited and overwhelmed about. I think I have more weddings booked for this year so far than I did all last year :) So mostly my time has been spent trying to grow and develop this.
Rosie is now 1! Well 14 months actually, we had a very lovely hungry caterpillar themed birthday party for her and I will upload some pics from this, actually, I might do a whole separate post.
Rosie has seemed to come on leaps and bounds over the last few months and has learned:
- Walking (this keeps us on our toes!)
- To identify and say Baby, she first did this on NYE whilst watching the google chrome advert. Proudest moment of our parenting life!
- To shake and nod her head and associate that with yes and no
- She knows where her nose is and everyday seems to learn something new to mimic
She now attends nursery on a Monday morning and I think this has brought her on leaps and bounds, will keep you updated with any new developments!!
I am back on the fitness and health regime with the aim to lose just over 1stone by my besties wedding in May! The pressure is on!!! I have started the first in a series of vlogs about this on my YouTube channel and will film a weekly update/weigh in so please check that out here and subscribe!!
My blogging aims for this year are to do it much more frequently and to spread the word. Any help doing this would be fantastic.
I hope you are all well and what are your New Year Resolutions?
Love Sophie

Hair care heros
The condition of my hair has steadily become worse and worse over the last few years, mainly down to the fact it is bathed in peroxide every 6 weeks, not to mention the abuse it gets from hair driers and straighteners.
I have tried product upon product but nothing has really managed to salvage my tresses - that is until now!
*Drum roll please*
Introducing my hair care heros:
These guys are amazing!! Now I have tried a lot of expensive shampoos claiming that they can help you and when the reality is they really can't. So I was a bit sceptical of the SP range. But wowzers!!! The shampoo really cleanses your hair and gets rid of any nasty build up. It is amazing how clean your hair feels when your rinse this stuff out and the conditioner is amazing. It leaves your hair silky smooth without that claggy heavy feeling. I also use the hair mask once a week for a little bit of extra indulgence :)
Next up comes Kerastase Elixir. I got given a sample of this when I bought all the SP stuff, and it was quite a generous size. This little bottle of hair care miracle is not cheap at around £27 for 125ml but they do also do a smaller 50ml bottle for around £12 and because you need so little then the 50ml should last you a while. You can use this in a number of ways - as a pre-cleanse before washing your hair, as a deep conditioning treatment, as a pre styling product on wet hair (which is the way I use it) or on dry hair. It smells amazing and doesn't leave a greasy residue on your hands unlike some other hair oils. I give this product 10/10 and rate it even higher than the original Moroccan oil.
When using these products my hair goes from dry, damaged and frizzy to silky smooth and shiny without hardly any effort so if you feel your hair needs so love then I urge you to give these guys a go.
Let me know how you get on if you do!

to my bestest friend and her spanking new finance!
This weekend was a good one! On saturday I was doing the Make Up for a bridal party in Edinburgh and the apartment was just off the Royal Mile. Although at times a bit hectic the atmosphere in the apartment was brilliant - I love doing weddings like that!
On Saturday night we decided that we were going to travel down to Newcastle the next day to visit some old friends and also meet up up with my bezzie who has recently moved down to Cardiff. They were taking part in the Great North Run so we thought we should really cheer them on. Eventually, after a lot of hard work we managed to find an available B&B and got all packed up and ready to set off early the next morning.
We woke up at 4.30am on Sunday (I do love a good early morning road trip when its still dark outside) and were on the road at 5.30am with a very dazed and sleepy Rosie in tow. We powered it down and made it to Newcastle for 9.30 and that was after a detour to my mums! The morning was spend catching up with my dear ginger geordie friend who I haven't seen for months, in fact it was Rosie's first meeting. Naturally they got on like a house on fire.
| Courtesy of Weheartit.com |
We then travelled across the water on the shields ferry whilst watching the Red Arrows which is always spectacular and met up with another dear friend before trying to battle our way the the GNR finish ground. My god! This was like running the GNR in itself, and of course the mobile networks were all jam packed so we couldn't get in touch with the people we were meeting. After 2 hours we eventually made it and I was reunited with my BFF and her shiny sparkler. Her boyfriend had got down on one knee just after she had finished the race. I must say I am very very excited about this wedding!
We hung around the race ground for a while before embarking on the even more excruciatingly slow journey to our B&B just outside Hexham. Now seeing at this was a fairly cheap B&B we were so pleasantly surprised by what we saw. I wish I had remembered my camera because they views were breathtaking. It was a tradition English Pub like you see in movies and such like and the bedrooms and en-suites were fantastic. You even got bathrobes which is pretty posh for a B&B. Anyway, it was called The Anchor Inn and is in a teeny hamlet called Whittenstall, just outside Hexham. I defo recommend.
So all in all it was a belter of a weekend spent in good company. Has it made me want to run the GNR? Hmmmm possibly.
This weekend I have 2 weddings and a photoshoot which I am looking forward to as I haven't done a creative shoot in ages!
Sorry for the lack of pictures, I am just rubbish at remembering to take pictures!

I conquered a mountain!
Hello to you all,
What a horrible windy rainy day it has been, or as us Scots say - awfy dreich! Which makes it a perfect day to stay indoors and read books and drink tea!
Last Saturday TK's cousin and girlfriend came to stay for the week. The arrived at around 2pm after driving all they way from Poole! So Saturday night we took it easy and got some beers and a curry in ready to start and action packed week!
Sunday
We decided to show them the delightful Edinburgh, which is my favourite Scottish city and a lot easier to navigate round now the festival is over. We went for lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe and then just had a leisurely stroll around the city centre. As the boys were with us there was unfortunately not much time (or patience) for shopping which my purse was thankful for.
Monday
On Wednesday I tried something that I have never done before. I climbed a bloody mountain, not just any mountain but the biggest mountain on the British Isles - Ben Nevis. Which is 4409 feet! Can I just add that I have only ever climbed a hill once, when I was about 8! Talking about baptism of fire. Climbing Nevis was really really hard, but achievable and that is with my ridiculous (un)fitness levels. It took us 3hrs 40 mins to get up there and it was freezing at the top!! Because it was such a rubbish day we could only see about 10 metres in front of us, so we could enjoy any beautiful views. Also it was very scary being at the summit, in the mist with massive cliff drops surrounding us. The journey back down was not that enjoyable either and took us 2hrs 30 mins. My feet were so heavy at the bottom and my calves are still aching 4 days later. I have decide to complete the other 2 highest peaks in Britain - Snowdon and Skafell Pike and me and Tom are also going to try and bag some other scottish Munroes.
P.s Notice the nutter who actually ran UP and back down Nevis in very little clothes!
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
We spent most of Thursday and Friday recovering from our climb, however I did manage a cheeky wee visit to what I can only be described as a craft emporium with Tom's mum on Friday, but more on that another time. Saturday we spent the morning watching Rugby before Dan and Hannah left for another Epic road trip back to Poole.

Monday
Monday, we went on our first walking adventure up to Pitlochery. Rosie managed to come along too as we hired this back frame from a local baby equipment hire company. She enjoyed it so much she fell asleep. It was just a short walk but we did come across this wonderful waterfall.
Tuesday
Tuesday was very much about they boys, who enjoyed at 30 min karting session at Knockhill. Me, Hannah and Rosie stood at cheered them on from the side lines. I would have taken part but £30 seemed like a lot of money for me and I could think of plenty more uses for it. After karting we grabbed some food, dropped Rosie off for her very first overnight stay at Grannies and headed out for dinner to a local mexican restaurant. The food was amazing but the strawberry margarita was even more delightful. Then we headed home as we were up early the next day.

Zumba ba ba ba
Well after about a year and half of talking about going to a Zumba class I finally did it!! I was originally going to go way back when the craze first appeared but then the pregnancy excuse got in the way and then I have always managed to put it off somehow or other.
On Thursday I finally bit the bullet and dragged myself to a class, and the verdict? I wish I hadn't put it off for so long as I loved it!
For those of you who may not know what Zumba is, it is an latin based exercise dance class which is around an hour long and supposedly you can burn off 500 cals in one class. So its a bit like the new "Spin" class.
The room was pretty packed and there were some die hard Zumba funs there. I am talking head to toe Zumba get up!! But I just rocked up in my running leggings, a vest and my nike zooms and tried my best to hide at the back of the room.
At first a felt right a totally clown as I didn't know any of the moves or routine but then a quick look around the room told me neither did 3/4 of the class! So for all you people who might be a bit scared about going as you have zero co-ordination, don't worry about it as everyone is to busy trying to follow the steps as well. I think at my next class I might venture forward a wee bit as it was quite hard to see the instructors feet and I think that might have been useful.
By the end of the class I was dripping in sweat, and sweating is something I really don't like doing. If I am in the gym and I start sweating, then I normally ease back a bit as I hate the feeling but with Zumba it sort of happened without me evening know. Also the hour seemed to go by in a flash whereas normally I constantly clock watch during exercise classes.
I am hoping to do a zumba session about 2 - 3 times a week, the only problem is the classes are on at awkward times but hopefully I can work around this.
So for all of you who want to try Zumba and are a bit hesitant then my advice is just go for it! It is a really fun class, and you can push yourself really hard for some tracks and ease back a bit for others.

Birthday Round Up
Well folks, its official I am now in my late twenties :( I think I am now at the stage where you stop counting the years as they go by!
Anyway I had a lovely Birthday, I was greeted by this lovely display of presents from Tom.
Anyway I had a lovely Birthday, I was greeted by this lovely display of presents from Tom.
I love Thomas's gift wrapping - he always puts so much effort into it! I, on the other hand, am hopeless at wrapping. Unless its square, then its not too bad.
So what was inside these wonderful wrapped parcels? Tom originally got me the new Mulberry Rosie Toiletry bag, which is really lovely but just too big to carry around your day to day make up. I was really touched by this gift as he had noticed my current bag was getting a bit grotty, but decided that I wouldn't get much use out of it. Plus I would be worried that it got wreaked like all my other make up bags do! As we were going through to Edinburgh we decided to pay the Mulberry shop a visit and we exchanged it for this lovely little beauty:
I decided on this size rather that the wallet as I don't really carry that much cash on me and this finds all my cards and coins nicely, its also a nice size that will fit into most bags and not take up all the room.
Tom also got me (spoiled I am!) a Babyliss Pro curling wand and a notebook and Pen, as he knows my love for stationary! I adore the pen, its a lovely Raspberry colour and writes like a dream!
After all the gift unwrapping we got ready and headed to the Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh for a wee birthday lunch! The hotel was amazing, we were greeted by doormen in Missoni Kilts and the decoration was amazing. The food was delicious and amazing value for money - you can get 3 courses for £20, which I think is brilliant for a 5 star restaurant! I would love to stay in one of the rooms there. After lunch we went for a quick look in Harvey Nicks, I didn't get anything apart from Shampoo and there gorgeous cupcakes!
Other gifts included a lovely Liz Earle set from my Mum and an ASOS voucher from my sister which I have already spent and will do a wee post on when the goods arrived.
I will leave you with a picture of Rosie climbing out a Missoni basket!

Tone It Up Update and weekend antics
Bonsoir everyone!
Hope you are all good and well and have had a lovely weekend. Just a little update on how things are going with the new health regime and life.
So I completed Day 1 no problem, Day 2's challenge was fine also. It was the Bikini Strap work out and I thought it was a really good........ until things started to go wrong. Yesterday my left knee felt a wee bit niggly but I didn't really think too much of it and just carried on with my day. Which to be honest didn't involve much apart from a big food shop (most exciting thing about that was getting a new kettle and toaster - oh how my life is exciting). In the evening we just chilled and watched HP, when I went to bed my knee was still a bit niggly but pretty easy to ignore. Fast forward to around 5am when I woke in absolute agony and could hardly move my leg. Thought uh oh but eventually, after a lot of tossing and turning I managed to get back to sleep. However I did wake a couple more times.
When I woke up for the day the pain had become unbareable and I literally couldn't move my leg at all! I was bursting for the loo so had to get Tom to help me hobble along. And oh my god sitting down was agony! So we decided it was probably a good idea to pop up to A&E to have it checked out.
Around an hour later, after a lot of faffing about and a good 5 mins spent trying to get in the car we arrived at the hospital. Luckily, it was really quiet so didn't have to wait long at all to be seen which was a bonus as Rosie was with us and I didn't fancy trying to keep her entertained for an age whilst in a waiting area!
The doctor got me to hop up (again quite literally) on to the bed and then began the torture process where she prodded and poked my knee, made me bend it and lift my leg in the air, all of which hurt - A LOT. She then went away and the consultant came in and made me repeat the whole bloody process again, which is beyond me. My favourite bit was when she asked me to lift my foot - to which I tried and failed, so then she asked me again!!!! I have just said I can't FFS! Now I know they were just doing their job but come on.
After some murmuring and discussions involving some un-comprehendible medical terms she finally announced that the most likely cause was tendonitis and send me packing with the advice to pick up some ibroprofen!
Tendonitis is not a nice thing peeps, it really really hurts and I don't think I will be able to do anymore road running, even though I had good trainers etc etc. If I do, then it is most likely to flare up again. It also means I can't exercise for a few days which is pretty rubbish however my mate is coming up from NCL so probably wouldn't have done much anyway.
So thats the exercise round up, food wise things are going alright. Had a bit of a pig out on Friday but have mostly been sticking to my measured out meals. Today was a bit of failure as we went to my friend's daughters 1st birthday party so was obviously cake galore.
The party was so cute, Rosie loved it and it was brilliant seeing her laugh and play with other babies her age. She gets so excited! She also matched the birthday girl perfectly as she was in white and red stripes and J was in spots. Hopefully get a picture of them both together.
So all in all the weekend was a bit up and down! I shall leave you with a wee picture of my cutie pie!

Cloth Nappies
Recently I have been reading and watching a lot of stuff about Cloth nappies. Now generally my thoughts towards this was "urgh no way! Hand me the pampers" but after finding a bit more out about cloth nappies I felt inspired to give it a go. Better late than never eh!
So I am a complete novice to all this but from what I gathered there are a few different versions of cloth nappies but I choose the "pocket" version. Basically, a cloth insert fits into a pocket in the nappy and this absorbs all the wee and other lovely stuff. When it comes to changing you just take the insert out and chuck them in a nappy pail ( a bucket with a lid) ready for wash day. (Oh forgot to mention, that you also place a liner on top of the nappy and this just gets chucked down the toilet, brilliant for number 2's as you just flush away and its not nearly as digesting as I originally though!)
Everyones favourite cloth nappies seem to be either Bumgenious or Fuzzybunz so I had a look at these but they just seemed a bit pricey and what if it didn't work out? So off i trundled to good old Ebay where I found a lovely deal for 5 nappies. They arrived promptly and so I began the pre washing process where you chuck them in the machine a few times to increase their absorbency.
Two days ago was our first "Cloth day" and it went like a dream, now we are just doing this part time until the stash is built up so we alternate one disposable and one cloth. The cloth nappies were just as easy as the disposables, the only difference is that you chuck it in the nappy pail instead of the bin.
After Day 1 I was hooked! I went and had a look at the other variations of the nappies and came across the Flip. This differs as instead of having to wash two parts of the nappy, you just take out the insert and wash that, and give the cover a wipe down, ready to be used with the next insert. Sounded brill so off I went and ordered one cover and a few inserts. They arrived today and will do the pre washing tomorrow so they will be ready to be used over the weekend.
If you are thinking about cloth nappy-ing but seem a bit confused by it all then don't worry - its actually really simple and most proper should have access to real nappy experts in their are who they can have a chat with. Also I *think* that if you live in England or Wales then you get a grant from your local authority to purchase some cloth nappies, so that may be worth a wee look.
If you are reading this and already use cloth nappies (or diapers) and have used both the bumgenious/ other branded nappies and the Ebay cheapies can you let me know the difference? and if one is better etc?
PS If any one is put off by the bulkiness of cloth nappies then don't be, there really is hardly any difference!

Tone it Up! Day 1
Greetings all, hope your are safe and well after these last few days of utter horror and devastation. All seems calm in England now, lets hope it stays like that. These riots made me feel glad that I now live out of the city, I was so scared for all my English friends and family. Anyway I hope we have seen the end.
If you read my blog (then thank you!) you will know that I am the worlds biggest yo yo dieter, I start a diet or fitness regime, stick to it for a week or two then thats it. Well I am back on my quest to lost this last stone, which for some godly reason wants to stick around. Whats the plan this time?
Well I was looking up diet chef the other day and was very tempted but the high cost just put me off. Its like my whole months shopping budget, and although I would be fed, what would Tom and Rosie eat! So i looked into the food a bit more and thought hmmmmm surely you can do a bit of a DIY diet chef. The main pros for diet chef are that you don't have to think what to have and you get the right size portion so no overeating. So i have decided that I am just going to weight out my portions so they are the same size as the DC ones. Also I can tailor my meal planning around the same meals they have or make something else that is fairly healthy. Lunch wise, all the DC ones are soup, so I will just stock up on that and make sure the portion size and cal count are similar. Same with breakfast. So there you go, a DIY diet chef.
So thats the food thing out the way, so what about that awful thing know as exercise. Well the other evening when I was catching up on some You Tube vids, a wee link caught my eye. It was to the Tone It Up videos, so clickity click I went.
The channel is brilliant, loads and loads of great work out videos for free. There was also a link to their website so I had a wee look at that and found the "Spring into Bikini series". This is 8 weeks worth of planned exercise. All you have to do is follow the days challenges one by one and in 8 weeks you should be much more tonnes and slimmer.
Today was the first challenge and it was the Booty Call. This means waking up 30 mins earlier a day and fitting in a fat burning workout. Well i didn't wake up 30 mins early, in fact if anything I woke up 30 mins later than usual as Rose the Human Alarm Clock decided she wanted a day off and slept in! Nevertheless I went out for a run at lunch time (in the pouring rain, may I add) and managed just over 2 miles!
Tomorrow its the Bikini Strap work out, and I must say as the exercise is generally different everyday I am actually looking forward to it!
I will try and update as best as I can but if you want to go check it out the you can find it here:

I also thought about doing some vlogs but always feel like an utter twat when I film myself!

In your head..
Over the last couple of days I have had about a million things swarming my thoughts but in reality I have done nothing! I have tried to write a To Do list but nothing actually appeared on the paper. Must try harder tomorrow. Any one else ever have this restless head syndrome?

Start as you mean to go on
My oh my this blog has been neglected of late! I seemed to have taken an unwanted hiatus from blogging in the last couple of months and actually really miss it.
In stead of doing posts that I actually want to write about I always leave so much time in between posts that I always have to spend loads of time on catch up posts. Not good. Anyway this is just another little post apologising for the lack of content of late and that from this moment on it will be rectified!
I have finally got a new laptop so no excuses now!
